- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [1.14](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1915.1.14)

> Now, those who wish to repent must possess ten dharmas that aid in completing their repentance: first, clearly believing in cause and effect; second, giving rise to great dread; third, deeply generating shame and conscience; fourth, seeking methods for eliminating offenses—namely, the various rituals explained in the Mahāyāna sūtras, which should be practiced in accordance with the Dharma; fifth, confessing past offenses; sixth, severing the mind of continuous \[transgression\]; seventh, giving rise to the mind to protect the Dharma; eighth, making great vows to deliver sentient beings; ninth, constantly being mindful of the Buddhas of the ten directions; tenth, contemplating that the nature of offenses is non-arising.
