> Now, within the gate of form, it is divided into two. As a sūtra says: 'Two are the gates to the deathless: first, the gate of the contemplation of impurity; second, the gate of ānāpāna.' The gate of mind has only one gate. As a sūtra says: 'Being able to contemplate the nature of the mind is called the supreme concentration.' By dividing form and separately establishing mind, there are then three dhyāna gates, namely: first, the mundane dhyāna gate; second, the supramundane dhyāna gate; third, the supreme supramundane dhyāna gate. Hence the Mahāsaṃnipāta Sūtra says: 'There are three kinds of collecting the mind: first, collecting the mind through emerging dharmas; second, collecting the mind through ceasing dharmas; third, collecting the mind through dharmas that neither emerge nor cease.'
