> Second, taking the dharma of form as a gate also cannot be merely the practice of the two vehicles, barred to the Mahāyāna, ordinary beings, and non-Buddhists. Why is this? As the Nirvāṇa Sūtra says: "Non-Buddhists can only remedy form, not mind; my disciples skillfully remedy mind." Hence we know that ordinary beings also practice the contemplation of form. As for the Mahāyāna contemplation of form, the Pañcaviṃśatisāhasrikā Prajñāpāramitā Sūtra says: "The notion of swelling, the notion of decay, and so forth, are the Mahāyāna of the bodhisattva." How could this merely be a gate of supramundane dhyāna?
