> Incomplete transcendence is the transcending samādhi of the śrāvaka, because they lack mastery and cannot leap far to enter. Thus the Mahāyāna\[-upadeśa\] states: 'For example, yellow lions and white lions are both capable of leaping. When a yellow lion leaps, it does not go far; but a white lion is capable of leaping a great distance. When a śrāvaka enters the transcending samādhi, they can only leap from the first dhyāna to enter the third dhyāna; they cannot even leap over two, so how could they leap over three? This is like the yellow lion's leap. The bodhisattva is not like this: from the first dhyāna, they can leap afar to enter nirodha-samāpatti, acting at will with mastery; this is like the white lion's leap.'
