> Furthermore, a teacher says: 'If one merely contemplates all humans and sees impure white bones, this is called few; if one performs the great contemplation of impurity, this is called many.' The great contemplation of impurity is for the sake of destroying greed and attachment everywhere. What is meant by the contemplation of everything? One contemplates elephants, horses, cattle, sheep, the six domestic animals, birds, and beasts, seeing them all as swollen corpses. Furthermore, one contemplates food and drink as all like worms and dung; clothing and silk fabrics as pieces of rotting skin and rotting flesh, foul-smelling and repulsive; money and precious jewels as venomous snakes and vipers, in an instant changing in death, foul, rotten, and impure; grains as foul dead worms; houses, fields, lands, walled cities, the great earth, mountains, rivers, and forests as all rotten, decaying, foul-smelling, impure, overflowing, and surging; even seeing white bones scattered in disorder, all worldly things being impure and extremely abhorrent like this. Within samādhi, the practitioner sees them as soon as they contemplate, turning them freely, able to destroy all worldly pleasantness and ugliness, attachment and hatred, greed and grief, and defilements; hence it is called 'having notions of internal forms, one perceives external forms as many, whether pleasant or ugly, mastering knowledge and mastering vision'.
