> The first teacher has already attained the eye of the Path: observing capacities and bestowing dharmas, he is sure to support their original habits and expertly recognize counteragents. He is not like Śāriputra who, when teaching two disciples, did not know their capacities, and taught the contemplation of impurity to the son of a goldsmith and taught counting breaths to the son of a washerman; this went against what they were originally accustomed to, so the method did not arise, and they ended up generating wrong views. The Buddha switched their contemplations, and they immediately awakened to the traces of the Path.
