### [3.11](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1916.3.11)

> The second teacher lacks the knowledge of others' minds, has not attained the eye of the Path, and does not recognize capacities and faculties. When someone comes to learn meditation, he should only teach the gate of cessation first; because the mind is in concentration, wholesome and unwholesome roots of capacity will immediately arise. If various dhyāna-concentrations arise due to the tranquil mind, the teacher should instruct him to cultivate them by supporting what is original. If no Dharma gate arises at all, or if various fetters such as greed, anger, or delusion arise, he should teach counteragents to smash whichever is predominant; when the obstruction to the Path is eradicated, dhyāna-concentration will arise.
