> 1. Explaining the arising of the wholesome roots of the twelve links of causes and conditions across the three periods of time: within a concentrated mind in the desire realm or the anāgamya stage, an awakening mind suddenly arises, investigating the three periods of time. Beginning with past ignorance, one sees no self, person, or dharmas such as ignorance; they are neither annihilated nor permanent. One is able to shatter the net of the sixty-two kinds of evil views, and the mind attains correct concentration, serene and tranquil. Contemplative wisdom is distinct and clear, penetrating without obstruction; body and speech are purified, and correct practice is accomplished. These are the signs of the arising of the wholesome roots of contemplative wisdom regarding the twelve links of causes and conditions across the three periods of time.
