> Above, the external and internal expedient means have already been broadly explained. If a practitioner can cultivate with focused devotion, binding their mindfulness to the gates of dhyāna, there will certainly be verification in realization; therefore, the seventh \[section\] broadly explains cultivation and realization. Thus a sūtra states: "Those who cultivate my Dharma know realization for themselves." Now, in explaining cultivation and realization, it is divided into four: first, the marks of cultivating and realizing mundane dhyāna; second, the marks of cultivating and realizing dhyāna that is both mundane and supramundane; third, the marks of cultivating and realizing supramundane dhyāna; fourth, the marks of cultivating and realizing dhyāna that is neither mundane nor supramundane.
