Having had this thought, they should single-mindedly and attentively contemplate all the pores and the nine orifices of their own body, \[seeing that\] the space elements within the body are all hollow and sparse, just like silk gauze, with inside and outside communicating with each other; and also like a plantain tree, layer upon layer without reality. When performing this contemplation, they immediately see it. Having seen it, they again attentively contemplate with their mind, seeing the body like a sieve, like a steamer, like a spider's web, gradually turning into minute particles until the bodily parts are entirely exhausted, seeing neither the body nor the five faculties and so on.
