> Furthermore, non-perception has three meanings: first, the absorption of the heaven of non-perception; second, the absorption of neither having perception nor non-perception; third, the absorption of the cessation of sensation and perception. Non-Buddhists without expedient means extinguish the mind and enter the absorption of the heaven of non-perception; ordinary persons and non-Buddhists with expedient means extinguish the mind and enter the absorption of neither having perception nor non-perception; disciples of the Buddha extinguish the mind and enter the absorption of the cessation of sensation and perception.
