'Skillfully leads out' means that it skillfully teaches the two truths without mutual contradiction; because this Dharma can lead out of the two extremes, it is called 'skillfully leads out'. 'Attains its fruit in the present life' means that the dharmas of all non-Buddhists have no fruit in the present life, whereas only within the Buddha-Dharma do causes and conditions arise successively. That is to say: because of pure adherence to precepts, one attains a mind free of remorse; because one attains a mind free of remorse, legal joy arises; because legal joy arises, one attains mental pleasure; because one attains mental pleasure, one can collect the mind; because one collects the mind, one attains knowledge of reality; because one attains knowledge of reality, one attains revulsion; because one attains revulsion, one attains dispassion; because of dispassion, one attains liberation; because of the fruit of liberation, one attains nirvāṇa.
