> Question: To contemplate the characteristics of mind in the two movements of "intending to think" and "thinking" may be acceptable. But before a thought has arisen, there is no mind; because there is no mind, there are no characteristics that can be distinguished. And once a thought has already ceased, it is no different from nothingness; with no phenomenon, there is no characteristic. How, then, can they be contemplated?
