The Buddha abides in the mind of great compassion, and by the power of the wholesome roots of great compassion, he can genuinely pull all sentient beings out of worldly suffering, the suffering of demarcated saṃsāra, and the suffering of transformative saṃsāra; hence it is said that compassion can eradicate suffering. As for the compassion within the preceding four immeasurables, although there is the mental intention to rescue from suffering, sentient beings do not actually escape suffering, and hence it is not called great compassion.
