> Seventh, like a dream. 'Like a dream' means that in a dream there are no real matters, yet one proclaims them to be real, and upon awakening, one laughs at oneself. People are also like this: in the sleep of latent defilements, they attach to what is truly non-existent; when they awaken upon attaining the Path, they only then know it lacks reality, and they likewise laugh at themselves; for this reason it is said to be like a dream. Furthermore, by the power of sleep in a dream, one sees things as existing where there are no dharmas; people are also like this: by the power of the sleep of ignorance, they see things as existing where various things do not exist, namely self, what belongs to self, male, female, and so forth.
