> First is reverent harmony in sharing the precepts. The bodhisattva thoroughly penetrates the true mark and knows that transgression is ungraspable. Wishing to establish sentient beings in the principle of the true mark, through the expedient of precepts they skillfully identify with all, upholding the categories of precepts without discord or dispute. They also know that sentient beings, sharing in the goodness of these precepts, neither discontinue nor are eternal, and in the future will definitely attain the great fruit of bodhi; therefore they revere them as they would a Buddha. Thus sharing the precepts is called reverent harmony.
