- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [1.46](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1930.1.46)

> Further, citing the \*Nirvāṇa Sūtra\* to confirm and establish its principle, the sixth fascicle states: 'An ordinary person is like milk; a srotaāpanna is like curd; a sakṛdāgāmin is like fresh butter; an anāgāmin is like clarified butter; and an arhat, pratyekabuddha, and buddha are like ghee.' The \*Mahāprajñāpāramitopadeśa\* (\*Dālun\*) states: 'In the śrāvaka sūtras, an arhat is called the buddha-ground; therefore the three persons are equally ghee.' This metaphor corresponds to the five flavors of the Tripiṭaka teaching.
