天台八教大意 1.49

- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [1.49](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1930.1.49)

《涅槃》二十七云：「雪山有草名為忍辱，牛若食者即成醍醐。」草喻八正，能修八正即見佛性，此譬圓教不歷四味即成醍醐。

> The twenty-seventh fascicle of the \*Nirvāṇa Sūtra\* states: 'On the Snow Mountains there is a grass named forbearance; if a cow grazes on it, it directly produces ghee.' The grass exemplifies the eightfold noble path; being able to cultivate the eightfold noble path, one directly perceives the buddha-nature. This metaphor corresponds to the perfect teaching directly producing ghee without passing through the four flavors.
