> The bodhisattva-precepts disciple Shen Junli of Wuxing bows with folded hands. I have heard that the Great Vehicle is that which Great Beings ride upon. Lofty, broad, and universally conveying, it goes straight to the bodhimaṇḍa, and further serves as the four reliances circulating through the six destinies. Humbly I consider that your virtue is profound and you deeply accord with the scripture's text. At the beginning of the five vows, I request you to open the title of the Lotus Sūtra, and within one summer retreat proceed to explain and analyze it. Monastics and laity all look up and wait in expectation for your fine discourse; in your loving-kindness and compassion to benefit others, do not violate your original vow. Respectfully I bow with folded hands.
