> In high mountains and vast seas, shadows cast or waters clarify.
> When tigers roar, winds arise; when dragons leap, clouds soar.
> The consummate man perceives the subtle springs of action, cultivating uprightness and dutifully complying;
> Humble yet venerable, originally abundant, he was chosen and hailed as an exemplar.
> Who indeed was truly fitting? One looked up to by all, fully capable of prevailing.
> Perfumed with dhyāna, contemplating stillness, he was tranquil and settled as winter;
> Subtle meanings surged like springs, like ice melting in spring waters.

> We possessed a raft of the vinaya, upon whose oars and rudders we could rely.
> Reverently approaching with single-minded devotion, joyfully receiving with vigilance and awe.

> No words remain unanswered, truly matching the echo;
> No virtue remains unrequited, equal to the mirror-image.

> Illustrious and luminous Master Guang, faithfully committed to distant journeying.
> Neither bright nor dark, his mirror-form remained as before;
> The monastery was named Guoqing, its sacred doors opening imperceptibly.
> Who would have thought our Master would so quickly follow the causes to the Land of Peace?
> The Dragon Tower had an early record; the Crane Pass brooked no error.
> The imperial dwelling was of old, sorrowfully erecting the Jetavana;
> A fine ending matched the beginning, the master revered and the Way honored.
> Measuring the sun's shadow to mark the quadrants, watching the stars to correct the dusk;

> The number of monks fed overflowed, an auspicious sign of our grand peace.
> Fields of the body are moistened by rain; trees of the mind bloom in glory.
> Planted together in the present, to be perfected together in the future.
> Like a suspended mirror, reflecting back upon this life;
> Like a sundial and jade tablet, never waxing or waning.
