> Question: Since it is said that the pure land has no women, why does the Drum Sound King Dhāraṇī Sūtra state: "Amitābha Buddha's land is named Qingtai (Pure and Peaceful); the city where the holy king resides is ten thousand yojanas in length and breadth, filled within with the kṣatriya caste; his father is named Wheel-Turning Sage King Candrottara (Moon-Above), his mother is named Visiṣṭavaktra (Extraordinary Wondrous Countenance), and his son is named Candraprabha (Moon-Bright); his attendant disciple is named Vimalakīrti (Stainless Renown), his disciple of wisdom is named Samantaprabha (Gathering Light), his disciple of supernormal powers and diligence is named Mahāpariṇāma (Great Transformation); the māra king is named Aparājita (Invincible), and Devadatta is named Śāntamati (Quiet Mind)." If there are no women, how could there be a mother?
