> The woman Old Mother Yao was a native of Liquan County in Yongzhou. She was favored with a master's instruction to make mindfulness of Amitābha Buddha her practice. Formerly, at the time of her impermanence on the twentieth day of the seventh month in the twenty-second year of Zhenguan (648 CE), Amitābha Buddha arrived to welcome her, together with Avalokiteśvara, Mahāsthāmaprāpta, and immeasurable bodhisattvas. Because she had not yet been able to take leave of her original spiritual friend, Old Mother Fan, she requested the Buddha to wait for a short while, and the Buddha consented. In a moment, Old Mother Fan arrived; after she spoke to Old Mother Fan and took her leave, she passed away.
