> Third, regarding doubting oneself: Question: I am an ordinary person of the common ground, bound and veiled by worldly conditions; how can this body be born in the various pure lands, enter the ocean of worthies and sages, and join the stage of right determination? Explanation: If one understands the open pervasiveness of the Dharma-nature as described above, and has faith in the embrace of Amitābha's original vow, one need only diligently practice merit; why wait to ask the way? Moreover, those of ten recitations attain rebirth, with only the five heinous crimes and slandering the true Dharma excluded. Furthermore, with a concentrated mind in ten recitations, even those who commit heinous crimes and slander are born. Now, fortunately lacking these evils and aspiring with right vows, what doubt could there be?
