> The upper fascicle was compiled by the Tang śramaṇa Zhisheng: the first half of the fascicle offers universal reverence to all Buddhas, while the second half specifically uses verses to revere and praise the Western Pure Land, as well as texts for repentance and making vows. In the lower fascicle, the monk Shandao selects and demonstrates the essentials for the exclusive cultivation of the Western Land, and collects the verses of the ancestral masters praising the Pure Land throughout the six periods of the day.
