> The Buddha said: 'I recall that in the past, vast, measureless, boundless asaṃkhyeya kalpas ago, there was a Buddha named Ratnaguṇavīryaprabhāsarddhikalparāja. When that Buddha was about to enter nirvāṇa, he extensively expounded the fundamental dhāraṇī of the Dharma to the assembly. At that time, there was a wheel-turning king named Agnidhara. The king had a prince named Acintyaprabhāvācāra, sixteen years of age. Hearing this fundamental Dharma from that Tathāgata, he diligently cultivated and practiced it for seventy thousand years, never sleeping nor reclining, sitting upright in one place, not coveting wealth, jewels, or the royal throne, and taking no pleasure in his own body. He encountered ninety billion hundreds of thousands of nayutas of Buddhas; he was able to hear, uphold, cultivate, and practice all the teachings of liberation of the Buddhas, grew weary of household life, shaved his hair, and became a śramaṇa. Having done so, he cultivated this dhāraṇī for another ninety thousand years, and further analyzed and revealed it for sentient beings. In a single lifetime, he vigorously taught and transformed them, causing eighty billion hundreds of thousands of nayutas of sentient beings to bring forth the mind of awakening, accumulating merit and gathering virtue to abide in the stage of non-retrogression. Could the bhikṣu Acintyaprabhāvācāra at that time be anyone else? He was none other than Amitābha Tathāgata (The sūtra is in the case marked \*zhi\* in the Great Canon).'
