> "Chapter on the Practices and Vows": In the final assembly in the Jeta Grove, Samantabhadra Bodhisattva brought forth the ten great Kings of Vows. Each and every vow stated: "Even if the realms of empty space were exhausted, and the realms of sentient beings were exhausted, these great vows of mine would have no exhaustion." When such a person is about to die, at the very last instant, all sense faculties are completely shattered and destroyed, all authority and power are entirely lost, and ministers, state councillors, inner and outer palaces, elephants, horses, carriages and conveyances, and precious buried treasures no longer accompany them. Only these Kings of Vows will not abandon them, guiding them forward at all times, so that in a single instant they attain rebirth in the World of Utmost Bliss; having arrived, they immediately see Amitābha Buddha. The person sees themself born within a lotus flower and receives the Buddha's prediction. Having received the prediction, passing through countless kalpas, universally in the ineffable and ineffable worlds throughout the ten directions, they use the power of wisdom to bring benefit in accord with the minds of sentient beings, and even rescue and liberate sentient beings from the great ocean of the suffering of afflictions, enabling them all to attain rebirth in the World of Utmost Bliss. Further, a verse below says: "May it be that when I am about to die, / All obstacles will be completely eliminated, / Seeing that Amitābha Buddha face to face, / I will immediately attain rebirth in the Land of Peace and Bliss. / Once I have been reborn in that land, / I will accomplish these great vows before my eyes, / Fully consummating everything without remainder, / Benefiting and bringing joy to all realms of sentient beings."
