> Dharma Master Daochun said: "Question: Samantabhadra's practices and vows are the propagation section of the Avataṃsaka. Why does he specifically point to Utmost Bliss amidst the ocean of worlds? Since one faithfully understands the perfect school, one may be reborn in any buddha land throughout the ten directions. Directing the conclusion back to the West must have a profound import. Answer: After Samantabhadra preached the Kings of Vows for Sudhana and the ocean-like assembly, the reason he concluded by returning to the West is that for people who faithfully understand the perfect school, entering Mañjuśrī's wisdom and cultivating Samantabhadra's practice, their merit and wisdom, phenomena and principle, all tally with the dharmadhātu. Although these people of great resolve wondrously awaken to the original illumination and are abruptly identical to all sages, their power and function are not yet fully sufficient and have not yet reached the point of appearing as a Tathāgata to universally benefit sentient beings; therefore, they temporarily rely on the Pure Land to be close to Amitābha and the ocean-like assembly, straight until achieving buddhahood. Hence the sutra says: 'Directly seeing the Tathāgata Immeasurable Light, / He grants me the prediction of bodhi face to face. / Having received the prediction from that Tathāgata, / I transform into countless hundreds of koṭis of bodies; / With wisdom and power vast, pervading the ten directions, / Universally benefiting all realms of sentient beings.' This is precisely that intention (this text comes from the Collection Resolving Doubts on Directly Pointing to the Pure Land)."
