Residing in this Sahā world, they fear that they cannot constantly meet the buddhas in person to attend upon and make offerings to them; afraid that faith will be difficult to accomplish, their intention is to retrogress. One should know that the Tathāgatas have an excellent expedient to gather and protect their faith: namely, by the causal condition of single-mindedly desiring buddha-mindfulness, they will, according to their aspiration, be able to take rebirth in another buddha-land, constantly see the Buddha, and seek escape from the evil paths. As the sūtra says: 'If a person single-mindedly is mindful of Amitābha Buddha of the Western Realm of Ultimate Bliss and dedicates whatever wholesome roots they cultivate, aspiring to be born in that realm, they will attain rebirth. Because they constantly see the Buddha, in the end there will be no retrogression.'
