> I have heard that in the west there is the Unsurpassed Correct and Complete Knower, whose lifespan is immeasurable asaṃkhyeyas of kalpas, whose light universally illuminates the dust-sand realms without limit, and whose compassion universally covers all beings without end. Those who hear his name and recite it with mindfulness all attain non-retrogression. Those who take refuge and make vows are delivered from all sufferings. Yellow gold serves as the ground, or vaiḍūrya; during the six periods of the day and night heavenly flowers fall. Pavilions, banners, and streamers are numbered in tens of thousands, filling the empty skies; jewel groves and pearl nets, with musical sounds, are stirred by gentle breezes. The adornments are exquisite and inconceivable; the land has no sun or moon, yet constantly shines with light. Therefore, the spirit of those who fix their mindfulness gallops to the west; as to the country of their parents, they constantly yearn to return. The nature has no realm of suffering, so now in accord with nature I discard it; the nature has the Land of Bliss, so now in accord with nature I take it. Going, going, across a hundred thousand kotis of Buddha lands, this is no distant road to be traversed on tiptoe: relying internally on the power of vows and externally on the Buddha's majesty, in the space of a single kṣaṇa one reaches the seven-jeweled lotus pond.
