> Question: Does a person who is reborn have an intermediate existence (antarābhava) body or not? Answer: In the Qunyi lun there are two theories: one says that for the extremely good and extremely evil, there is no intermediate existence body; the other says that without distinguishing between good and evil, wherever there is relinquishing of retribution and taking up of birth, all have an intermediate existence in order to transmit consciousness—only excluding transformation of the body in the present lifetime, which has no intermediate existence. We now take the view that it exists as correct.
