> The Trifling Words from South of the Northern Meng says: 'Gu Kuang, courtesy name Tuiweng, had a son named Feixiong. In Kuang's late years, his son suddenly died prematurely. Kuang was inconsolable with grief, and chanted: "The old man has lost his beloved son; / at sunset, a thousand streaks of blood. / The old man is seventy years of age, / and will not make it a parting of many years." Feixiong heard this in the underworld and reported the circumstance to the nether official. The nether official pitied him and dispatched him to be reborn into Kuang's family. When he was three years old, he was able to speak about hearing his father's bitter chanting in the underworld. Later, he took the examinations and passed, becoming a person of great renown.'
