> Aspiring for rebirth, aspiring for rebirth! / The World-Honoured One earnestly told Śāriputra, / Showing that the great compassion of all Buddhas is identical; / Mutual praises of virtue, their minds free of difference, / Skillfully responding to the opportune moment, each possesses efficacy. / The Tathāgatas of the six directions all sing praises: / "Śākyamuni's appearance is exceedingly rare to encounter!" / Just when the five defilements were flourishing intensely, / Avidyā stubbornly hardened like high mountain peaks; / As the kalpa defilement moved through time, bodies gradually shrank; / The defilement of sentient beings grew vile, equal to snakes and dragons; / The defilement of afflictions spread everywhere, exceeding the number of dust motes; / Attachment and aversion, defiance and compliance, were like soaring mountains; / The defilement of views was a dense thicket like thorns; / In the defilement of lifespan, premature death struck in an instant. / Both circumstantial and direct retributions were destroyed together; / Turning their backs on the correct and taking refuge in the deviant, they recklessly gave rise to enmity. / The ninety-five paths all defiled the world; / Only the Buddha's single path is uniquely pure and serene. / Coming forth into bodhi, his mind is inexhaustible; / Returning to the burning house, he delivers humans and devas. / May the assembly turn their hearts and all aspire for rebirth, / Holding fragrant flowers in hand, always making offerings.
