> On account of Wei Zhou requesting a gāthā from Guishan, Guishan had said, "To present it face to face is still being dull; how much more so to give it form in paper and ink!" Wei then requested one from the Master. The Master drew a circular figure on the paper and annotated it: "To know it by thinking falls into the second head; to know it without thinking falls into the third category."
