> The Indian monk's golden staff gleamed; / For the Dharma he came to Fenyang. / Six men became great vessels; / Exhorted and requested, he expounded it. / Extending the talons of Xihe, / He shattered the old ruts of past and present. / The sky of meaning is without dregs; / The mirror of mind has no trace. / Round like a bright moon pearl, / Sharp as a vajra sword. / One cut cuts through everything; / One severance severs everything. / Above, there is nothing to climb or look up to; / Below, one's own self is cut off. / The eternal light manifests before one; / Standing wall-like ten thousand fathoms high. / Head Monk Mushi carved and printed it anew / To broaden its circulation, / To cure the many doubts of the reckless, / And rescue the slight awakenings of the accomplished.
