- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [1.173](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1993.1.173)

> “Everyone grasps the pearl of the sacred serpent; each one embraces the uncarved jade of Mount Jing. Failing to reflect back the light upon oneself, one cherishes a treasure yet goes astray in the realm. Have you not heard it said: ‘When responding to the ear, it is like an empty valley: great and small sounds are never lacking; when responding to the eye, it is like a thousand suns: the ten thousand forms cannot escape their shadows and substance.’ If you deliberate and seek it from sound and form, Bodhidharma's coming from the West was indeed a great injustice!”
