> “In the world there are five kinds of difficulty: first, it is not easy to transform \[alms\]; second, it is not easy to give; third, it is not easy to change raw into cooked; fourth, it is not easy to sit upright and eat. There is yet another difficulty: what kind of person is it?” After a long pause, he said: “Hah!” He then descended from the seat. At that time Zhen Dianxiong was serving as the head monk. The director of the canon asked: “Just now the Master spoke of the fifth kind of difficulty—what kind of person is it?” The head monk said: “Seeing his cheeks from behind his skull, do not associate with him.”
