> The master then said: "The Way has no hesitation or obstruction; dharmas fundamentally accord with conditions. How could things be forced? Simply being so without making it so, when at Jicui I spoke as a man of Jicui Hermitage, and upon entering Huanglong I speak as the elder of Huanglong. How could one know that the ancestral master's mind-seal is shaped like the iron ox's mechanism? If it goes, the seal is affixed; if it stays, the seal is broken. Just tell me, when neither going nor staying, how do you affix the seal?" After a long pause, he said: "In the misty village, the third-month rain; / Another kind of springtime for this household." He descended from the seat.
