- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [4.142](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1996.4.142)

> I have previously perused this work and seen quite a few bodhisattvas who all brought forth their words to initiate the utmost, forming praises of its Dao. Following inspiration, I too have accordingly matched it, not seeking to bore into the wood of literature. Ah! The grand guidelines of the early awakened can illuminate antiquity through and through; how could feelings and thoughts overstep among them? For often students merely suppress questions and strain their intentions without obtaining \[insight\]; if gold and sand are mingled in the stream, to pan and sift them certainly must rest on the artisan's clear hand.
