> Ascending the hall, \[the Master\] said: "A single palm does not clap in vain; a single tree does not make a grove. Establishing the Dharma banner and setting up the lineage style requires mutually being host and guest to settle the homeland. Therefore it is said: 'If I sit, you must stand; if I stand, you must sit. If I lodge alone on a solitary peak, you must lay down weapons. If I am in heaven or among humans, you must have three heads and six arms. Only then can the Buddha-sun be made to shine gloriously.' And tell me: amidst the vast expanse, how do you distinguish the host? / Everywhere is Maitreya; / At every gate there is Sudhana. / Descended from the seat."
