- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [18.21](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1997.18.21)

> He cited: "Master of the Mountain Xiu's verse says: 'Broken in two, it does not become one; / The one Dharma eternally abides forever. / If a person understands in terms of one and two, / For eternal kalpas he will suffer drowning and sinking.'" The Master commented: "Directly like a sword leaning against the heavens with awe-inspiring divine majesty, standing wall-like a thousand fathoms high in a flat and level place, yet flat and level where it stands wall-like a thousand fathoms high. Although he was only able to express half of it, Daolin does otherwise: 'Broken in two, it does not become one; / Even the one Dharma does not abide. / Not forming an understanding of one or two, / For eternal kalpas he will suffer drowning and sinking.'"
