> Ascending the hall, he said: “The entire sky is harmonious energy, the whole earth fine spring light; willow buds burst open, mulberry twigs break through; flowering branches are like brocade, bird calls like reed pipes. Piercing through in eight directions and seven ways, carving the uncarved mind-seal; a hundred heads and a thousand threads, expounding the unstated wondrous gate. Clear upon every thing, manifest upon every head; cutting it off directly on the spot, dead fire will not rekindle; having full confidence directly beneath, withered roots bring forth life beyond the world. Leaving aside not treading paths for the moment, how do you speak a phrase that mixes with mud and water? Returning home is entirely the matter of children and grandchildren; the grandfather has never stepped outside the gate.”
