> If you wish to empty the ten thousand dharmas, first purify your own mind. When your own mind is pure, all conditions cease; once all conditions have ceased, substance and function are both suchness. Substance is the pure fundamental source of your own mind; function is the wondrous function of your own mind's transformations. Entering the pure or entering the defiled, there is no attachment, like a great ocean without wind, like the vast void when clouds disperse. Only when reaching such a ground can you be called a student of the Buddha; if you have not yet attained this, please pull yourself together quickly.
