- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [19.25](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1998a.19.25)

> With Zhaozhou's phrase, "A dog has no buddha-nature," you must also bring it to mind and scrutinize it amidst joy, anger, quiet, and bustle. Above all, you must not use the mind to wait for awakening. If you use the mind to wait for awakening, you are telling yourself, "Right now I am deluded," and clinging to delusion while waiting for awakening; even after passing through dust-like kalpas, you still will not be able to attain awakening. Just when raising the huatou, summon up your spirits a bit and see: what kind of principle is this?
