> Ascending the hall: "When inverted thoughts arise, birth and death continue; when inverted thoughts perish, birth and death are severed. Where birth and death are severed, nirvāṇa is empty; where nirvāṇa is empty, there is grit in the eye. Since nirvāṇa is already empty, what do you call grit in the eye? / White clouds may easily drift across the green peaks, / But the bright moon cannot be made to drop from the blue sky."
