> Ascending the hall, the Master brought up: "A monk asked Yunmen: 'What is the eye of the true dharma?' Yunmen said: 'Universal.' Another monk asked Fengxue: 'What is the eye of the true dharma?' Fengxue said: 'Blind.'" The Master said: "When these two venerable elders answered in a turning of words, was there any superiority or inferiority? If you say there is superiority and inferiority, you are truly blind; if you say there is no superiority and inferiority, it is truly universal. In the end, how is it? Clouds atop the ridge never finish being idle; water flowing at the bottom of the ravine is far too busy."
