> Ascending the hall on the eighth day of the twelfth month, a monk asked: "Old Śākya abandoned the precious throne of a wheel-turning king, underwent six years of austerities on the Snowy Mountains, and on the eighth night of the twelfth month, suddenly saw the morning star and was enlightened. Was that really true?" The master said: "It makes one long remember General Li." The monk said: "Afterwards, he spoke an entire canon of entangling vines, pulling branches and trailing creepers, discharging urine and dumping feces, which has not ceased to this day." The master said: "Worms within the lion's body." The monk threw down his sitting mat and said: "Before he saw the morning star, was there this news or not?" The master said: "Holding the hair knot and handing oneself over to the magistrate's office."
