- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [9.15](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.2000.9.15)

> He also cited: "Venerable Jingqing asked a monk, 'Where have you just left?' The monk said, 'Sanfeng.' 'Where were you for the summer?' The monk said, 'Wufeng.' Qing said, 'I release you from thirty blows.' The monk said, 'What fault does this one have?' Qing said, 'Because you left one monastery and entered another monastery.'" He brought it up and said: "When the strings move, one recognizes the tune; when the leaves fall, one knows autumn. The summer in the mountains has dispersed; could there not be patch-robed monks going east and going west? If someone suddenly asks, you must never say you passed the summer at Jingshan. If you say it, your skull will be smashed. Why?" Striking the staff, \[he said\]: "Wine is drunk with an intimate friend; poetry is chanted to one who understands."
