> Ascending the hall, he cited: "Changshui asked Langye: 'Being fundamentally pure, how did the mountains, rivers, and the great earth suddenly arise?' Langye said: 'Being fundamentally pure, how did the mountains, rivers, and the great earth suddenly arise?' Changshui had an awakening." The master took this up and said: "I venture to ask you all: the question was identical, and the answer was no different—whereby did Changshui awaken? Jingshan will provide another commentary for you all." Striking the whisk, he said: "Being fundamentally pure, how did the mountains, rivers, and the great earth suddenly arise?"
