- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [3.20](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.2001.3.20)

> \[The Master\] cited a monk asking Guangde: "What kind of person is sharp and nimble?" De said, "Vimalakīrti does not leave his ten-foot room; before Mañjuśrī arrives, he already knows in advance." He asked again, "What kind of person is sharp and nimble?" De said, "The greasy undershirt is washed with soap-beans." He asked again, "What kind of person is sharp and nimble?" De said, "In an ancient tomb, the venomous serpent wears horns on its head." The Master said, "One phrase holds fast the vital pass; one phrase retains no rules; one phrase shines doubly on essence and function. If someone understands, I acknowledge you as sharp and nimble. Is it genuine? / The wondrous turtle shell rests in Sun Bin's hands: / With a single scorch, the hexagram splits into a cross pattern."
