- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [3.28](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.2001.3.28)

> \[The Master\] cited Dongshan asking Yinshan: "What is the host within the host?" Yin said, "Not stepping out of the door for years." Dong said, "What is the guest within the host?" Yin said, "Green mountains covered in white clouds." Dong said, "How far apart are guest and host?" Yin said, "Waves on the water of the Long River." Dong said, "When guest and host meet, what words are spoken?" Yin said, "A clear breeze brushes the white moon." The Master said, "The host: clouds conceal the crown of the head; the guest: snow presses upon the eyebrows. Their distance: the gatekeeper has limits; their speech: jade chimes and golden sounds. These four phrases of mine—tell me, are they the same as or different from Yinshan? Those with eyes in the monastic grove, please try to discern them."
